Coastal Ridge Real Estate Partners Notifies Individuals, Offers Protection Following Hacking
Coastal Ridge Real Estate Partners (Coastal Ridge) management announced today that they are investigating the hacking of an employee’s email account that may have resulted in unauthorized access to individual’s personal information.
Immediately after discovering that a forwarding rule was put in place on the affected email account, Coastal Ridge changed the password to that account and enabled additional network security measures. Since that time, Coastal Ridge has been working with a leading cyber security firm and other professionals to investigate the issue. Through this investigation, Coastal Ridge discovered that the attack may have exposed some combination of financial account information, social security numbers, driver’s license numbers, usernames and passwords, health insurance information, and dates of birth of 1,044 individuals, including 221 individuals in Ohio.
“We take information security very seriously, particularly with respect to information that has been entrusted to us,” said Ryan Dolan, General Counsel of Coastal Ridge. “Nothing leads us to believe that any of this information has actually been taken by the attacker and there is no indication that any of this information is being used in connection with any malicious activity. Out of an abundance of caution, we are notifying those potentially affected and offering one year of credit monitoring at no charge,” Dolan said.
